tuesday timetable

this day is going to be a little on the long side, I can feel it in my bones. our two newest additions are NOT liter box trained as we were led to believe. I have the war wounds to prove it.
seriously
have you ever seen a six week old kitten expand his wee legs to actually touch opposite sides of a kitchen wall, while suspended over what appears to be a torture chamber, waiting for the spikes to shoot out from pockets in the litter box, the chinking noise of metal on stone? I didn't see the spikes either, but believe you me, this cat was PETRIFIED of said litter-spike-box and was not goin

nice

we managed to literally keep throwing him (gently) back into the box of doom until he couldn't possibly jump out any more and he went. then retreated to my lap, very solemnly, very sulkily, just sitting there, kind of staring out into space with his head a bit down, like he was entirely stupefied with what just happened to him. here is where I totally wish I was an illustrator. I *think* I am still the one in charge. you had to be there.

and somehow, unbeknownst to me, I ended up with litter down my back.

sunday stuff

because nothing super spiritual happened to me today, I will call this simply "stuff"

I did have an absolutely awesome time on our mini vacation with friends, and my brother is here now, able to stay until sometime tomorrow. my husband is going to eat breakfast with us, then he will take off for work, a little late.

I managed to ride one water slide, proving that not all rides leave you feeling nauseous, overwhelmed and physically scraped up, but I also avoided a ton of others, which really says a lot more. I have good, solid reasons for not doing water slides. the first being a vivid memory of slipping too far up the side wall and having to grasp the edge of the slide for dear life (not an exaggeration), the second being a series of bleeding scrapes that began at my tailbone and ended somewhere near tuesday. not cool. not worth repeating.
so I braced myself, hid under the guise of spending some time with my twelve year old, and slid down the orange slide, hands braced at my sides, not leaning backward AT ALL, and also refusing to look like I was having too much fun. the lifeguard at the end likely thought I was a crank-pot, but that is ok ... whatever it takes to slowly get over my dislike of rides

so I survived, even if I was a bit of a party pooper ... I kicked it at skeet bowling, and I personally believe that makes up for it. plus, evan bought me a nifty blue ring for twenty tokens. whooot!

if you've never been, you should go

thursday throwup

when I was in papua, I couldn't blog with any regularity because getting onto the internet was 'prit near impossible. now that I am back to 'civilization' I find that life generally runs at light speed, whether you want it to or not. meetings each week, social obligations, stuff to shop for, phone calls and e-mails endlessly streaming in ... the list goes on and on. not that I want to really be a hermit, but sometimes, when I finally turn my computer on after being away for just.one.day, I feel all the stress stomp back into place (usually my neck and shoulders) that slipped off so easily while I was not "on".
... probably need counselling for that.

I don't begrudge technology, I only wish I was more efficient. I think I can tend to let things pile up too often only to feel the mountain-ness of said molehill. like tomorrow ... the fam is going away with another fam for two days then having company stay until monday. I am one of those sorts of people who, generally, does not answer the phone if I have someone over, nor will I turn my computer on unless I have something specific to show them.
this is going to be a busy weekend.
this is going to expose and test a lot of things for me.
does that prove I *am* anal?
