the simple woman's daybook

FOR TODAY...Monday, February 23

Outside My Window... Newly fallen snow with bare, dry roads; my favourite.

I am thinking...that I really cannot do all the things I would like to do in a day, so blogging is going to have to take a back seat most days.

I am thankful for... Doctor's appointments, even when they come at strange times.

From the kitchen...organic cranberry scones.

I am wearing...some things that probably don't really "go" together, but don't care.

I am creating...my latest study guide for homeschoolers, and all I have to do now is get it ready to send to The Old Schoolhouse Magazine Store where it can start selling.

I am going
...to the grocery store for some Chef Boyardee (just for me),then taking oldest to his rehearsal sprinkled with a lot of big fat staying at home in between ... bliss.

I am reading...well, nothing right now because some others have given me books to read and I am unsure that I have any desire to read one particular selection but am never sure how to just say "actually, I am already engaged".

I am hoping...to restore my adrenal gland without a lot of work.

I am hearing
...my oldest trying to prove his point to his brother for the millionth time. irritating.

Around the house
...almost all the paint touch-ups done and a feeling of settling in, at last.

the simple woman's daybook

the Simple Woman's Daybook

FOR TODAY... Monday, July 14

Outside My Window... My in-laws have a garden that is rivaled only by Smallworld's. The tranquility and imagination I unearth while basking under sun-drenched wisteria is serenity at its best.

I am thinking... I should take lappy out on to the deck, so I can hear the birds, but it's plugged in.

I am thankful for... restless sleeps and crazy dreams.

From the kitchen... I am about to make myself a perfect cup of Organic Numi and step out into the brilliant world once I finish this post. Tea simply tastes better out of doors.

I am wearing... great board shorts I bought in Grand Bend and a light brown Reebok Original tee; my favourite toe ring.

I am creating... another study guide that I should have published and sold already but got lazy about.

I am going... to swim in the lake, later ...

I am reading... The Jane Austen Book Club

I am hoping... to embrace many things

I am hearing... the quiet tick-tock of the old-fashioned mantle clock and the delicious sound of pages in a book being slowly turned by my oldest son. I wonder how to write that sound?

Around the house... Grandma is downstairs on her computer and the boys are watching a Discovery Chanel program. Neal just left to go on a bike ride.

One of my favorite things... sharing a meal with people who validate who I am becoming and make me strive to get there. Especially if chips, potato Caesar salad and sausages are involved or it is called a grill-out.

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week: taking malaria pills for the first time and finally deciding which books simply cannot come with me. I am unsure which is going to be the more difficult thing to actually "do"

The Simple Woman's Daybook

FOR TODAY... Monday, June 16

Outside My Window... there are sounds of birds, lawnmower and many vehicles. I know that it is summer soon and it is wonderful to finally be able to open the door and leave it open, soaking in the sounds of a country I am soon leaving.

I am thinking... that it will be so different in Papua New Guinea and I cannot even begin to superimpose the sights, sounds or smells onto my small town, South-western Ontario brain.

I am thankful for... provision

From the kitchen... only one cat is still sitting on the windowsill now. The other gave up her request for early lunch. The sunlight streams through the many slats of the antique wooden shutters that encompass each of the six, extra large windows. I will miss that sight.

I am wearing... a butter-cream t-shirt with embroidered flowers, saying "love is in the air" and a long pale blue skirt. I am getting used to wearing only skirts and am finding myself feeling very feminine as a result.

I am creating...well, hopefully, a legacy.

I am going
... to the dentist at three, unless I can figure out a way to dodge the inevitable. I know, I know ... very childish. well, my age does have a "3" in it.

I am reading... absolutely nothing because the library was closed after church and the one in town is decidedly out of what I have written on my list of reads and I find that very disturbing.

I am hoping... to pack my entire house this week AND find places to store it, to boot.

I am hearing
... the lawnmower that I first wrote was a pleasing sound and is now distracting and others have now joined in the fray. Yes. I *AM* that fickle.

Around the house
... too many things to pack. WAY too many. Who bought all these things, anyway?

One of my favorite things
... the chocolate milk I drank at breakfast this morning. This was an attempt to console myself for the obvious lack of accoutrements for my toast, as well as the knowledge that it makes NO sense to go and buy condiments the week before you move, especially since we will have to share an already over-stuffed frige.

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week: I am slowly going crazy, one, two, three, four, five, six ... switch

Here is picture thought I am sharing
...  I have no idea how my two "toddlers still in my mind" became just about twelve and thirteen.
